Global Academic Function — full academic fluency across disciplines and environments.
Upper College supports full academic fluency across disciplines and environments.
Students engage in advanced study across all core subjects while developing proficiency in Arabic or Russian. Independent research and international placements prepare students for higher education and global careers.
Upper College students operate with a high degree of independence. The Josun program functions closer to a university seminar. Students arrive having read, prepared, and formed views. Sessions are discussion-driven. Mathematics, science, and extended writing are pursued at an advanced level.
Independent research and extended written work occupy the afternoon. Students work toward substantial written output — not as a single assignment, but as ongoing practice. A second language session continues at a level that sustains academic discussion.
Students manage their own workload. The expectation is not that they complete tasks — it is that they produce work worth reviewing.
The student attends a French lycée. At this level the demands are significant — philosophy, advanced mathematics, sciences, literature. The student participates fully, sits the same assessments, and is evaluated on the same terms.
Laboratory work, seminars, or independent study periods depending on the schedule. The Josun program continues in a condensed daily session — focused on academic continuity and integrating what the student is encountering in the French system.
The student completes work for both programs. Managing two serious academic commitments simultaneously is not incidental to the Upper College experience. It is part of what the program is developing.
